Ed Graves started Energy Improvements inc. in 1989. Prior to this business he was in full time ministry. A friend was in the church had told Ed about radiant barriers and how it worked. Starting and running a business was the last thing on his mind. It started as part time work until he could find a ” real job”. There was literally no information in the market place about radiant barriers. The information available was from NASA and a few universities that did testing experiments. The university of Mississippi, Texas A&M, Florida Solar Energy Center and TVA had published reports and studies.  Ed looked at the information and studies and seen an opportunity to help home owners save money on there utility bills.  From there he started advertising, knocking on doors, making phone calls, calling on friends and family. What he found was that nobody had ever heard anything about this product. It was very difficult to get the people to listen to the facts that Ed had discovered. It was very discouraging and most of Ed’s friends told him to quit or get a conventional job. At the moment it seemed the darkest, the Lord gave Ed a rhema word from the bible that things would increase. The success was immediate, the very next day a call came in which lead to a couple jobs. Within a few weeks the first employees were hired on. Then a regular office outside of his personal home. Then a double office came next because of all the employees and business. Today Energy Improvements has its own office and works all across the country. It has been said plagiarism is the biggest form of flattery. Several companies have tried to use or stolen Energy Improvements product name and company name. But there is only one Energy Improvements that has been in business for over two decades. As a matter of fact there is only one company that has successfully marketed and installed radiant barrier for over two decades and that is our company.
